To my eye, the noise is between one and two stops better than the 7D2 without any noise control in post.  However, the R5  cleans up real nicely even at ISO as high as 12000 if exposed correctly and using Topaz or DXO.  Capture One handles the noise really well, too. Lightroom, not so well.
