Nice series - definitely BIF takes some learning, and manipulating the settings until you fine tune what works for you.

I don't think ducks necessarily need 1/4000 - I agree in general I don't bother with animal-eye AF as I find the regular tracking AF modes work beautifully for BIF work.

I also agree with the sentiment of turning off IS altogether - at 1/1000 and up, it's likely doing nothing, even in panning mode, and COULD be causing interference...I find better safe than sorry and just turn it off when I shoot BIF.
