What makes a camera "obsolete"?
7

I hear this term a lot, but can't get a handle on what it means. I hear it the most with people unsure of whether to buy an A7III. "What if I buy it and the A7IV comes out? My A7III will be obsolete!!!" To me either a camera fits your needs/wants/value equation or it doesn't.  Pretty much every camera will get replaced eventually. And even the ones that don't still have a lot of usefulness. Plus a camera that doesn't exist doesn't take pictures, so what's the use in waiting if you need a camera now? What am I missing?
