The TC1.4 is fantastic with the 200-600 as long as your camera can autofocus at f9. Mine hardly ever comes off. See below 840mm and APS-C mode so effectively 1260mm.

Here cropping would not work well because of the low light and noise would ruin the details.

aps-c mode is just cropping. It will not give you more reach
