Re: The end of the compact camera

I think the compact camera has a future as a tool for photographers who find smartphones inadequate for a number of reasons related to ergonomics, sensor size, and lens range. Speaking for myself I'm not interested in greater "intelligence" in cameras because I prefer more control over the final image. AI takes too much of that control away. The user base for smartphones is different and offers them a camera that does all the work for them other than composition. In the end, there is a market for both and I suspect they can exist side by side for the foreseeable future.
