Stepping away from my frustration with contrariness, you are the one who asks Jim to solve the paradox of the GFX and DOF tables.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, Jim has a way of doing exactly that and it revolves around the choice of value for the circle of confusion. Put a loose CoC into the calculator and it predicts a generous DOF. Put a smaller CoC in, and it predicts a narrower DOF.  The solution to your issue with calculators is to experiment with different CoCs until we have one that results in the DOF you see on your monitor. Then you will have a calculator fine tuned to your working methods that will reliably predict the DOF you will see when you select your aperture and your focus point.

I think that is the essence.
