What metering mode do you use with Samyang 135 lens on Canon camera?

Since this lens is fully manual with oldschool f-stop ring, the camera receives zero information regarding subject, distance etc.
I used evaluative and center-weighted average metering with auto-ISO and the results were mixed. It was either blownout or dark. The camera rarely metered the scene accurately.

Which was surprising to me considering the aperture ring physically rotates and dims the scene accordingly - i thought there shouldn't be a problem for a camera to meter the light.

So what metering mode is best or advisable to use with this lens? Using it on Canon 5dMK4. Thanks.
