The only innovation in Sony FF land is the marketing budget fueling GAS and "elevating" Sony FF bodies to be mere fashion accessories.

Sure Sony try to get you to buy their latest product, but that is no different then any other manufacturer or company  who make a living of suppling a segment with products. Our modern society and financial system is built on an excessive materialism and consumerism, if people stopped up and stopped filling their lives with possessions our entire world would fall apart faster then the Roman empire, as it’s one of the key stones in the foundation that we stand on, removing it and everything will collapse. Reality is a large chunk of the world population is working in sectors whose entire existence rely upon people buying unnecessary stuff or experience, all share one thing in common we fundamentally don’t need them and these will loose their job and those their bread and butter if we stopped buying the latest junk on the shelf.  So everything besides the food on your table and the home that you live in, is in reality a fashionable item you really don’t need.

A7RIV is the best current example of this syndrome. First choice for GAS types who are drawn towards the pixel count figure and hysteria generated by populist YouTube reviewers. If IQ is your primary requirement one would shoot medium format, if crop-ability is important medium format would be first choice.

As stated above no camera is anymore or any less such a thing. Every brand build their products and market them in such a way that it generate a desire or create a pressure for you to purchase it, one of the main things these play on is typically our wish for social recognition and capital in our social group among other social related aspects. We don’t just buy it because of it being technically better, but because of our wish to belong in a specific group, our place in said group and because of the pressure we can feel and our fear of exclusion. Every major brand uses such strategies to get us to buy these products, Sony is no exception neither is Canon and Nikon.

A9 was the last innovation which actually delivered a significant increase in capability to the market - which Sony should be appluded for.

A1 also fall in that category as it is a new product

Brands like Panasonic with no AA filters(s1h being the exception to reduce morie) full sensor dedicated to capturing photons as opposed to useless pixels dedicated to PDAF inputs, peerless video capabilities in the mirrorless form factor are innovative tools produced to achieve a specific outcome.

Above will no doubt be an unpopular opinion however Sony evangelist need to get over themselves as the shrills are getting tiresome and end result is likely to be this slippery slope of sony's continual release of toys not tools.

Used Bodies + Used and New Lenses

I don’t particularly find Sony users to be evangelistic, you could have had a point about other users. To be frankly I don’t think many Sony users are that loyal.
