Indeed, it works with all Sony A-mount lenses, and most Minolta ones too. Some people love to spout nonsense, however.

The limitation to specific camera bodies is purely marketing driven. There’s no reason why the A7SM3 can’t use it, for example, as it has the new processor, advanced PDAF, and the FZ100 battery.
