Z5 (FTZ and native) does motorsport

I've been playing around with various telephoto options for my Z5 recently (by playing around, I mean at least 2-3k images with each of the combos mentioned below!) With no native 70-300 or 100-400 on the scene for the foreseeable future I think I've settled on a pretty decent combo...

First up was the Z5 + 24-200mm, I adore the lens for travel and AF always seemed snappy, so I gave it a shot at a few events and it's been performing superbly well. No issues to report aside from it obviously being a bit short in many circumstances. I'm guessing the 70-200mm would be a better option, but as this is a hobby and the 24-200mm covers so many scenarios for me, it's the more practical option at the moment.

Next up was the FTZ + Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 (which I hired). Strangely enough this didn't inspire a great deal of confidence, it felt like it was spending more time hunting than actually shooting, but when I came to review the images they were mostly ok. The biggest issue was the 200mm starting point and the size of the thing (with the adaptor too).

Z5, 200-500mm (via FTZ), 410mm, 1/320, f5.6

Z5, 200-500mm (via FTZ), 210mm, 1/30, f25

Finally, it was the turn of the Sigma 100-400mm Contemporary. The balance with the adaptor and Z5 feels pretty good (certainly much better than the 200-500) and I've been super impressed with the hit rate, which inspires more confidence than the 200-500 (which technically doesn't make any sense) and is now a keeper alongside the 24-200, which it compliments nicely.

Z5, Sigma 100-400mm C (via FTZ), 145mm, 1/25, f10

Z5, Sigma 100-400mm C (via FTZ), 400mm, 1/100, f6.3

Overall very pleased. I'm coming from a Sony a7III (and Fuji X-T2 before that) and whilst the options with the adaptor aren't able to compete with the native options from either of those two systems, it's certainly 'good enough' to happily get me by until we finally see some more telephoto options from Nikon.
