P1000 - how to prevent it turning off when powered externally...

...this is a spin off a previous question.

I am trying to use the P1000 as camera trap. In order to do that I have it externally powered and connected to an external sensor that triggers the camera when motion is detected.

The issue is that, even when powered externally and without it set to switch off after a period of time, the camera turns itself off after a while if it detects no it is not being used. That impacts its usage as a camera trap as I need to have it on site for many hours.

My work around is that I have it connected to snapbridge on remote photography mode, but that means that, in addition to the camera, etc, I also need to leave a mobile device in the site.

I contacted Nikon support but their response was unacceptable and it does not even merit a follow up.

Any idea from anyone in the forum? Thanks in advance.
