Yes, no FTZ involved. And the direct adapter is just a piece of metal, no electronics at all.

Maybe that's one of the differences between the Z7 and the Z7 II?

Have you checked your images' Exif data with exiftool, or how did you determine the absence of lens data?

I have a Z6 and have both the FTZ and a dumb adapter. I'm pretty sure that I don't get EXIF data with the dumb one. I'll check later.

Maybe it is a difference between the original and the II versions. There's no reason why the EXIF data shouldn't be written if the non-CPU lens data has been set on the camera.
