Two images of sparrows. I am not much of a bird photographer. But sitting and relaxing in the garden while watching the birds eating the seeds my wife places on several feeding placed for them, I like it. The first one is probably a young one, not quite knowing how it works. With some imagination you could explain his expression as defensive or protective, expressing ‘stay away from my food’.

The second one is a adult bird, showing how it's done.

To me, the combination of the carved/moulded birds with the real thing is the striking point in these. The figures and the actual are about the same size and this makes the comparison inevitable. The artist's stylization sits with the model. A both are somewhat monotone, it works even better.

I must be in one of my cropping moods, it happens. Maybe remove about half from the shadow area below the basin lip in shot 2? I feel it would strengthen the several horizontal lines linking the figures and bird.
