Hi,

Going way back for me, I still recall how thrilled I was to spot a metering unit for use in the darkroom to figure out how to set the timer on the enlarger. Money well spent.

I had an external light meter for the camera, but it was trial and error in the darkroom. Then, Wow! Get it right the first time.

Later on, moving to an SLR, it had a meter looking thru the lens. Say What Now??? :Still I managed somehow without such things. Much better with, though.

And for DoF, those scales on the old Nikon manual focus lenses. I learned to actually use those. They improved things for me, regardless of why.
