About Olympus camera lenses sizes and complaints .
I have the E-M10 ..small compact and i can use all m4/3 lenses (normal and Pro) with kit lens .
I have E-M5 something bigger and i can use all m4/3 lenses ( normal and Pro ) with kit lens .
I have E-M1 series a bit more bigger and i can use all m4/3 lenses (normal and Pro) .
I have E-M1X great camera for wildlife ... much more people are discovering the greatness of this camera after 2years .... (this E-M1X has been burned down from the start by stupid people ) , and i can put all m4/3 lenses on it (big and small) .
I bought the 300mm Pro when it first came out ..... a marvel ! a small big lens which blows away the competition ..still after using it for 4 years ? I bought several small lenses too.. and they are all very good for what i do.
I dream about the 150-400mm .. a huge Pro lens .... which is a send from someone out there in the universe .... but a but to hefty on price for me .
So anyone complaining about the size ? Come on .. you have a choice , from small to bigger ..but all still small in comparison to the rest of the brands .
So you have a choice and next to it brand new technology ..... I do not see this with the rest of the brands .
Stop nagging and use all shapes and sizes of lenses and cameras to put you effort into making your photos ...
Ho, hum. I've been shooting Olympus for decades, but I definitely don't think they are "ACE" in all sizes.
They only just moved to 20MP in the E-M10 IV in Sep 2020,
The E-M5 was a poor camera; the E-M5 was a welcome upgrade. But they didn't move to 20MP until the E-M5 III in Nov 2019. And the E-M5 III has a tendency to rip out the tripod socket.
What ? E-M5 a poor camera ? You must have dropped a bit of sanity ..... E-M5 was the first one with ground breaking stabilisation .... If you have forgotten that ? How many stops did we gain because of that stabilisation .
The E-M1 mark 1 was a good start (discounting the control dial failures, lug failures, EVF burn-in), but the E-M1 mark II and III got bigger (a tendency the Olympus needs to re-evaluate). And they still have problems with their grips stretching out and coming unglued. Well, I have large hands, so I do like the cameras. At least they are smaller than the Panasonic G9/GH5.
Moan moan moan .
The E-M1X is too big. And nowhere near as comfortable to handle as the E-M1's. This was because they made it handle like the battery grip of the E-M1's, instead of making the vertical orientation handle like the E-M1's. I had it; I sent it back.
Moan moan moan ... 1 year after production more and more people took it up.
The E-PL series is the real size setter for Olympus, but you can't put an EVF on the new models. Bah. The Panasonic GX9 is just a bit bigger, and has a built in, tiltable EVF, and a 20MP sensor. In fact, the GX8 had 20MP in Aug 2015!
A bad day you have ..not ?
I've had to have my Olympus bodies serviced more than all of the other cameras I use combined. And I'm counting the three recalls on the Nikon D750.
As for lenses; well M43 was supposed to be great for ultra wide angle, but Olympus selections have been pathetic. The 9-18 (not a great lens) or the 7-14 f2.8 (too big and heavy). The Panasonic 7-14 f4 is much smaller and ligher, and the Panasonic 8-18 is a joy to use (and it takes filters). The PRO lenses are very sharp, but very heavy (and pretty expensive). The standard lenses; their standard zooms are all 14-xxx and that's just boring. They should have put out an excellent 12-60. Well, Panasonic lenses are more aligned with the spirit of m43; they put out 2 12-60's, the 12-35 f2.8 and 35-100 f2.8 are a truly "ACE" combo, and the 14-140 II is the best of the standard super zooms.
And finally, their lens filter sizes are all over the place, and for no good reason.
Did you have a change of sex or so ... or do you have a moaning wife for weeks long.
Nope. I shoot 'em, but I'm not all weepy about it.
I just tell how it is ..... all sizes all kind of users ... different levels , different quality of lenses .. that is not weepy . I just tell how it is ...it is in all is variable package to select you own.
Try that somewhere else.
Too bad you can't be civil. Too bad you take criticism of some hardware personally. Too bad you feel the need to make personal attacks.
The E-M5 had poorly placed function buttons and a tendency to exhibit shutter shock. The LCD bezel had a tendency to crack; they had a recall but didn't recall all of the cameras that were affected (as in mine). It didn't have electronic shutter, which Panasonic models at the same time did have. And it didn't have focus peaking. Just because it had IBIS didn't make it a good camera; it just had a good feature. I gladly sold mine as soon as I got the E-M5.2. The E-M5.2 was simply a much better camera.
The E-M1 had too many quality control issues; control dials, camera strap lugs, grips, EVF burn-in, and one of mine even had a shutter failure and an EVF diopter failure. I've never had so much trouble with a camera model (and both of mine were in the shop more than once). I was quite happy to replace them with E-M1.2's, even though the E-M1.2's were larger. But I still had to send one of my E-M1.2's to the shop for a lens coupling problem, and of course the grip on one of them had to be replaced.
I've had no service problems with any of my Panasonic cameras (2xLF1, G5, 2xGH3, 2xGH4, GH5). The G5 had shutter shock, but it also had electronic shutter to mitigate. Otherwise, Not One Problem.
