Stripping of metadata by social network site operators

I do not use social network services, but do occasionally pass on some image files to those photographed who almost invariably upload images to FB and the like.

It appears that social network site operators strip all metadata before making the photo viewable.

Do such sites give their users an option to request that image file is made public with metadata intact, so that the copyright/license info I add to the jpeg before giving it to the subject remains in the jpeg even when downloaded/saved by some third party?

(I know nothing prevents any internet user from manipulating any file downloaded in any way desired; I am only interested in what social network site operators do.)
