Manual Mode

I am 99+% confident that it was in 1/250th sec fixed speedlight control. I just did a few test settings and in similar lighting indoors it shows 1/250th as the sync speed. Changing that to the other auto slow sync flash modes displays the slower flash sync speeds, not the 1/250th sec that I was seeing during the malfunction. Still, that was worth double-checking. However, it appears that wasn't the answer.

My questions on TTL and HHS simultaneously refers to the Flashpoint flash as reports states that off-camera it doesn't work.

If you really want 1/250 SS, why not using the manual mode?

The screen says the x-sync is only 1/200 if you use mechanical shutter like I do.  Either way, Set the "Slow synchro" to 1/200 sec. (fixed) if you need to, but my old Canon brain can only think in the manual mode, which is very intuitive IMO.
