Dedicated macro lens

FYI. Canon makes one dedicated macro lens - the 65mm MP-E. This is fixed focus - with the focus fixed at the minimum distance - with effectively a variable length extension tube on a 65mm macro lens. So, someone at Canon decided that 65mm was the optimum focal length for a macro lens on a full frame body. Maybe - or maybe they decided that the variable length extension tubes already made the lens long and cumbersome, so any longer focal length could be tough to manage.

I have this lens. It can take wonderful shots, but is hard to use.
