It makes sense to me that every time the shutter opens and closes, that should count toward the shutter count. If you switch from optical to live view, shutter opens. If you turn off the camera, shutter closes etc.

Personally, I have the shutter set to automatic where it will switch to electronic only if it is needed for higher shutter speeds, and artifacts will be less apparent. I would also use it if I was at a wedding or other event that required silent shooting.

I plan on keeping my X100V a long time (my first Fuji camera outside of a W33D). I will use it like I have used all of my cameras... I won't abuse it, but I will use it. If I wear it out, it will get repaired or replaced at some point, and hopefully the pictures I take will be worth the price I paid. - Sean
