Voigtlander for Fuji X (and many others): DOF Scale

I have just found in cameraquest some images of the new Voigtlander 35mm 1,2 for Fuji X, with additional infos and a few notes.

One of the notes is as follows:

(* 2) It is recommended to change the depth of field display in the camera menu to the film standard (the same value as the depth scale engraved on the lens).

Now, I have already noted in a few posts the common problem that I find in many manual focus lenses, mostly chinese (I personally own a TTArtisans 35mm 1,4), regarding the engraved DOF scales, that are totally wrong if applied to and APS-C camera. I do not understand why you should correct the DOF scale in the camera to a film standard, that, in my opinion, is a nonsense.

Would anyone explain me why using a manual focus lens the DOF should change form the mathematical standards?

Thanks a lot for your replies.
