Beautiful shots, sir. Awesome work.

Hey, thanks!  This is a great macro lens.

The colours pop. Be interesting to hear how you edited them. DPP4?

I used to use DPP, but this year switched over to DxO Photolab 4.  DPP can do a great job, but DxO has more functionality and has better noise reduction.  I always like to adjust by eye using the sliders (including the “Vibrance” slider   ).

Also if you have the 28mm efm macro lens how do you feel about their different feels and best uses?

Two completely different lenses.  Worlds apart.  The 28 as a macro lens is a lot of fun because it’s so small and light, plus it’s stabilized.  It’s one of my favorites for flower photography.  It’s a nice sharp lens, and works well for “normal”  shooting too.

However that wide(r) angle can be really problematic when composing macros.  You have to work hard to find good compositions and/or to achieve pleasing bokeh.  The very short working distance can also make shooting bugs difficult.  Overall I much prefer a 65mm or 100mm macro lens for critters.

One thing that the fully manual Laowa can’t do unfortunately is utilize the M6ii’s neat Focus Bracketing feature tho.  I make up for this by shooting bursts with flash, using the “lean” technique (creating a series of slices through the subject), that I can stack later.
