I think you are good. Below is the infamous email you DON'T want to get (redacted name and order number any my added bold emphasis). The keywords are "received" and "once your order has been confirmed." Canon splits hairs between "received and confirmed."
That "shipping and tracking information" didn't come after 3 months and I canceled the order. I called Canon a few days later to confirm that the item was backordered as it never showed the status online. As you wrote, the person I talked to was nice but didn't seem to really know anything (i.e., nice, but useless). About 3 months later I call and canceled (you have to call to cancel) and ordered from B&H.
This was my second order from shop.canon and the first one proceeded without any problems.
