Re: From the zoo - ISO invariance

You taught me a thing. I had never heard the term ISO-less before, so I looked it up. I just went out this morning and tested it on my X-T4; and a 1600 ISO shot brightened 2 stops in post looks just like a 6400 correctly exposed shot. A very useful thing to use now when considering shutterspeeds in poor light. Thanks!

Where this especially comes in handy is scenes with big dynamic range - think shadows and very bright parts.

In such case it is fine to leave the shadows (or overall scene) a bit darker, in order not to clip (lose) the highlights. Later, while processing the RAW file, you can lift (brighten) the shadows, and leave the highlights as they are (paying attention not to make the image too "flat", low contrast).

It`s pretty much how Fuji`s "Dynamic Range" modes work in-camera, too.
