Why back button focussing is awkward on Fuji

This is for using back button focus in continuous mode, which is one of the main reasons to use it as you get best of both like subject tracking, plus focus and recompose without changing modes from AFC to AFS.

Now the reason I dont think it works on Fuji is quite frustrating and dont know if I’m missing something in settings, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

So, most commonly people set the AF On to the AEL button and for me, this isn’t ideal as its just a clicky button and I’ve noticed my frame in the viewfinder shifts slightly everytime I press it. It should be a spongy dedicated button like dslr’s where you feel the lens focus fast and is natural, one press and you can recompose or hold it for moving subjects.

A dslr just feels better than mirrorless for this way of shooting.

On my x100v I had to set it to the rear dial press which feels fine, problem fixed? Not quite.

In AFC mode the back button focus doesn’t provide confidence you are in focus or not. It should be as fast as AFS but a lot of the time I press it once and it hunts, so I hold it a little longer and go to take the shot only to see it can sometimes miss focus even after green square appears.
Quite annoying, plus you cant even use focus check in this mode either so might have to give up and go back to AFS unless you can share some tips.
