Not really, it is the exact same class. I have D700 and D810 and in controls and build quality there is not a lot between them. The main difference is a more modern sensor, and other, mostly not terribly significant, evolutionary improvements.

D750 and 780 stand in exact same relation to D8xx line as e.g. D90 stood to D300 or D7200 to D500. If you hold them in your hands it is palpably obvious. Nikon has been lost in its own numbering system but it shouldn’t really confuse anybody.
