It doesn't have to be an epic or iconic moment to mean something.  On a smaller scale, it could be as simple as stumbling across a news event when you're the only one with a camera.  From a practical perspective, it could simply mean taking a photo that outlives you because you had it printed and distributed, opposed to a cell phone snapshot.

Or using photos to tell a story.  Or bringing recognition to worthwhile individuals or organizations.  Or promoting a local event.  Or documenting a project or discovery.  Or a photo that finds it's way beyond your usual circle of influence....
