I am getting telus to take back our 2 iphone 11's. They have been nothing but trouble since we bought them. Terrible signal reception, missing notifications constantly, shoddy OS, Face ID is GARBAGE. Completely disappointed with them compared to our 8s. I am getting a s21 ultra for me and the normal s21 for the wife. I am wondering if 128gb will be enough? I have 31gb used on my iphone with about 1/4 of that being that stupid "other" file that just clogs up your apple devices with no way to delete it.

In my usage, photos and music take up the most space, and that is device independent.

Then System files. System Files take up significantly less space on iOS.

  • iOS 14.6 System files take up 7.3GB
  • Samsung One UI 3.1 with Android 11 take up 20.4 GB

Then Apps. Apps take up less space on Android. So it depends on how many Apps you tend to keep on device. Some App size comparisons:

  • Clash Royale (game): 330MB on iOS; 192MB on Android
  • One Note (Microsoft note app): 375MB on iOS; 271MB on Android
  • Outlook (Microsoft email app): 479 MB on iOS; 346 MB on Android
  • YouTube: 215 MB on iOS; 170 MB on Android

And if you get Android phone with external flash storage support, then you can expand as needed. iPhone does not have this option.

Telus won't budge in offering us anything for our phones so we are stuck with them, until our contract expires.  At which point I will be moving to whatever the latest samsung device is.  Hopefully they will have a new note series device out.  I may buy a motorola G Pro to hold me over until that happens.  Either way, I am gone from apple.
