Side note: I kind of regret getting the Sony a73 but I do a lot of cropping so my husband talked me into the a7R3 plus I found the viewfinder to be much clearer on the a7R3.

For shooting kids, the a7RIII give you all the AF capability that you'll ever need. The a9 is for very tough, fast moving subjects, like professional athletes or birds-in--flight. The R3 is much better for cropping. (Before I moved to the a1, I owned both the a7RIII and the a9).
