just my personal opinion ofcourse:

I'm going on a trip to San Francisco & Lake Tahoe.

I have Sony A7R iii and 24-70mm f2.8. I also have an old Canon 85mm 1.8 with MC-11 adapter for Sony
I cannot afford another lens at this point. Should I return 24-70mm f2.8 and get a 16-35mm f2.8?

yes you should. With 42mp at you disposal, there’s always the possibility of cropping and still have a good sized file to work with. That 16-35mm GM is superb and almost glued to my Sony.

If I give away my 24-70mm f2.8 and get a 16-35mm f2.8, would I miss anything that I have from 24-70mm?

you’ll keep your 85mm canon, right?

I want to go light and be able to cover the landscape, SFO city, and some family group photos during the travel.
