Predictably… he wanted something more ike every other camera on the market…

Predictably, his opinions elicited a defensive response, and an implied conclusion that being different is automatically and necessarily a good thing.

Numerous new and unique camera features that were at the time hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread have quietly gone the way of the dodo.  See also the Sony NEX-7 and its "tri navi" dials, which were revolutionary and ground breaking, until they weren't.
