Re: BIF with R5 and RF 100-500mm compared to A9II and FE 200-600 G

I doubt you would be disappointed with either outcome. B&H show that the A1 should be coming in within 3-7 days and are offering special financing on Sony gear. The RF 100-500 is still at "Request stock alert". Depending on who you ordered your RF 100-500 from it seems like the A1 might arrive sooner. But who knows.
I have really enjoyed the R5 and 100-500 and I've been very happy with the images. While image degradation with the RF 1.4 extender is not much of an issue (but you are shooting at F10 and 700 which then pushes ISO for BIF and SS), I have found the AF is noticeably less precise with the RF 1.4 extender on. This doesn't matter much with clear backgrounds, but with busier backgrounds like reeds, leaves, grass etc. or water reflection I've noticed a difference. I can't compare that with the A1 and 200-600.
In scrolling many forum image threads and professional nature and wildlife Instagram accounts the image quality between the two systems seems almost identical across the board, including images produced using the Sony 600 F4 GM and 600 F4 III from Canon with the EF/RF adapter.
I'm considering renting the A1 and using it for a week side by side with my 200-600 and R5/100-500 combo. If work permits I'll try and schedule the rental soon.
Well in either case if I buy new it will be from B&H. i do take advantage of their Payboo discount. While I would like to have it sooner rather than later I waited to order so I will stay with them.
I guess I missed the special deal on the Sony gear financing so I will have to look again.
So if you are like me and think I would end up with the A1 I better make sure that is the direction I want to go before I order it.
Thanks.
