The PenF at first seemed to have a notch better highlights but what I found is that the PenF seems to expose a notch differently. Once I accounted for these, they both seem ballpark the same DR.

I explored both highlight and shadow recovery using the built in converter to get an idea. Seems ballpark same.

Color

Though E-P7 has what clearly seems the same monochrome and color profiles of the PenF (plus one more slot of each), the EP7 seemed to learn a notch warmer than the PenF.

This could be an auto white balance thing, so I may have to do another test where I force the white balance, or wait for Iridient/DXo to support the EP7. Maybe I can check on the Olympus Workspace app now that I think about it.

I got the impression at first the PenF may have been a little better at color sensitivity, but after accounting for exposure they seem similar except for perhaps a small WB shift.

A small note on Fuji X100V

Many keep saying there's no difference but of course, the difference will be seen on the challenging performances. I took the same shot with EP7 I have taken with a Fuji X100V of a restaurant that has light coming in and strong shade.

I would say some people are generalizing for mostly shots in daylight, the differences are there still, but for me it would come down to the body and lens choice not the sensor. I wouldn't gain much based on sample images I've seen.

Differences are most noticeable at the extremes, but there are definitely people who claim no difference at all.

The EP7 just couldn't pack the entire DR that easily, burning a bit of a restaurant sign on the wall in the place while getting the shadows a bit noisier lacking some color while the Fuji X100V passed this in a much better notable way. The Fuji kept color in the shadows while not completely burning the highlights on the sign.

Makes sense, although I picture would help as I don't really understand the scene you are describing.

I could expose for the sign on the EP7 and I did, but the shadows lost a bit more color (obviously total DR is the real DR). The tones were also not as rich as the Fuji's... but what do I know... maybe I have better yes to spot these differences

I can't deny this gave me a pause of 0.2 seconds to consider going to an XE4, but I already know this score, and I keep in m43rds due to the 75mm lens and I really really love the tones and shots I got recently on the drivers sequence with the EM10MKIV... which means there's plenty to get as is.
