Camera was bought specifically for travel. It has all the customisable features I require, including resolution, but is seriously let down by the poor quality of lenses by Canon, particularly the zoom range. Canon’s hype for this camera is therefore misleading, if not downright false. This means I’m unable to write anything too positive about the camera ‘cause I’ve yet to discover its real potential for taking high quality photographs!
lenses for it are: siggy 56 f1.4 and siggy 16 f1.4 and canon 32 f1.4 and canon 11-22
beyond that - a lot of buts
I completely agree with your lens selection here.
The EF-M 32mm F1.4 STM and Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN are superb with the M6II sensor. As is the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM. I'm assuming the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN will be similarly excellent.

I’m fairly new to the EOS M system. I bought my daughter an M5 a while back, and had never really gotten into it. The appeal of the EOS M system lies in its favourable size: IQ ratio. To be honest, I never gave the M5 a chance. I started with the kit EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM for the first few days. I took it out side-by-side with the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM on my 6D.
You want to talk about physics and MTF charts?
This was a comprehensive trouncing on more subjective, and intangible fronts.
Colours. Contrast. Sharpness. Detail. Depth of field. Rendering of out of focus areas. This was a ruthless beatdown. You want to try getting some natural looking colours out of this lens?
Forget it.
I believe canon made an error in using this as the gateway drug that draws folks into their system.
When I bought the M6II it came packaged with the EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM. I had done a fair bit of research and reading reviews about the lens, so my expectations were reasonably high.
In my early tests I would say this lens is marginally acceptable as a general purpose lens. Probably overall better than the EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM, but, again, just marginally acceptable for my eyes. Both of these zooms are outresolved by the sensors.
That being said, my experiences with the EF-M 32mm F1.4 STM, the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN, and the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM on the M6II have been so impressive that it has rekindled my enthusiasm for this system, and for photography in general.
As a general walkaround combo, the M6II with the EF-M 32mm F1.4 STM is SO compact and light; SO easy to use and get good shots; and produces such amazingly good results when I look at the files back at home, I'm starting to carry it with me everywhere I go.
Seriously this combo just kills it on so many fronts.
