ON body plastic & JPEG profile dial vs Pen_F's
3

Someone in the thread asked if it feels plasticky or non plasticky or in between. Sorry- I know you asked but can't find the question now so decided to post here before I forget.

The build is all plastic but it feels "solid enough." The dials are true aluminum machined dials, and somehow combined with the fake aluminum plastic color gives the camera the illusion it's built on looks at a higher tier.

The EP7 like the PenF, is "clingy"

A note on the color & black and white profile dial- I find it improved over PenF's in more ways than one-

- The PenF dial was a bit in the middle of your finder when grading the PenF depending on your hand size and how you use the camera. This is not the case with the EP7 because it's down and out of the way

- The EP7 has a grip and it does work better than I was expecting. I didn't see the same indent of the EM10 MKIV which is pretty good.

- The rear thumbnail rest is a textured plastic seemingly part of the body that WILL NOT fall off like the PenF!  Just like the EM10 MKIV I suspect is somewhat similar and won't fall off like the EM5MKIII!

The cheaper cameras are *better built* here in this area, and I think OM Digital should really fixe that. It's absurd the fake leather on the EM5.3 expands and will fall off... and it's even more absurd the entry level models (thankfully) don't have this problem!

- The profile dial on EP7 is of an "on/off" nature bringing a clear UI to the color and black and white profiles- much better than the PenF's... the options are much more clear, you know what you are changing. ON the PenF using that sub-level lever you don't know what menu UI option is coming next for the profile.

This is not a mess in the EP7- kudos to Olympus/OM Digital for improving this UI usability in this area dramatically.
