I used Gigapixel AI to enlarge the SD1M file instead of Photoshop. The SD1M is a very good camera with excellent sharpness that enlarges very well in Gigapixel but the focus has to be perfect in order to get that sharpness.

The problem is that obtaining that perfect focus requires each lens to be calibrated to the camera which can take a lot of time and patience, more than most who own it are willing to commit to. As such there are a lot of complaints about it not being "good enough" compared to Bayer cameras with a much higher MP count such as the D810. But as you can see from your own comparison that if you nail the focus the Merrill shot can be just as good as the Nikon.
