I often used video frames to provide stills from moving subjects that would be difficult to capture with still shots. For instance:

If you don’t mind me asking, how do you extract a still from a video please? 🙏

The Canon TX1 recorded videos in AVI format using Motion JPEG, which, rather inefficiently using memory, took a series of stills in rapid succession (1280 x 720 p @30 fps) using more memory space than other formats. So, as well as playing like normal videos, these could be played back frame by frame on my computer and a suitable screen grab made.

The TX1 was the size of an ordinary pack of cards, with a strong metal case into which the lens retracted when turned off; an adequate F3.5-5.6 39-721mm zoom lens (with Super macro focus down to zero mm!); 1 /2.5" 7.1MP sensor; stereo sound recording with video - or for sound only. Only 160 frames-per-charge small battery was easily acceptable with a few spare batteries. But the 1.8", 114,000 dot screen, though with a 270° swivel, was low-res and difficult to use at extreme zoom. And though many large handed reviewers panned the diminutive joy stick controls, many users hoped for an improved TX2.
