I think that's a really good point. In terms of sheer size, I probably wouldn't want to go much bigger than my 18-135. Still, there are a couple of quite compact, reasonably priced (i.e. about what you'd pay for a good aps-c lens) FF primes which look interesting to me. One example is the Sony 24mm f/2.8 G. It seems to offer a lot of things which aps-c lenses don't. When new it costs a bit more than I'd really want to pay, but I might keep an eye out for a decent used copy.

I don’t know how good the Sony 24/2.8 G is but my choice for a 24mm is an APS-C lens the Sony Zeiss 24/1.8. If I am going FF on this one, it will be the 24/1.4 G but my old 24/1.8 is a keeper. It is my go to travel lens in low light conditions.
