It gives the same picture quality and saves thousands of dollars... Now that the RF superteles are hitting the streets how long do you think it’ll be before Canon starts limiting features from new bodies the way they did the original IS superteles?
Maybe a lifetime? Can't live fearing extreme hypothetical scenarios with no basis
That’s certainly up to each individual to decide. However, the limit of 6.7FPS and reduced AF area on a bunch of EF lenses certainly is a pretty solid basis to consider that eventuality.
All EF lenses are out there, and a baseline has been set. My guess is things will stay at that baseline. There is no need for Canon to antagonize their own user base for no reason when they know they can design better lenses and sell for premium in future
Do you think we’ll be seeing more EF mount cameras announced?
No. But that is a completely different topic
Well, for example, my EF 500mm f/4L IS USM can give 10FPS on the 7d mk2 and 90d and even more on the M6 mk2 but only gives 6.7FPS on the R5...
That is the baseline on R system I mentioned. They can improve on that, or keep it same. I don't see the need to make it worse for a lens that already exists
But they already did and I’ll add, it definitely is a pretty good motivation to upgrade...
Did what? Is there another R camera that does more than 6.7 that came before R5? Upgrade to what? I guess you would mean to something that actually does better on R5? Do we know the capabilities of the new 400 to make such a decision at all?
Ok I obviously don’t get what you’re talking about but honestly I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter anyway. Canon put restrictions on older lenses and that is the point. If you want to ignore that fact that’s your business.
I'm talking about that restriction being part of EF on RF body deal, not some arbitrary "things will only get worse from here evil plan". If you want that to be basis of some FUD eventuality, that is your business. EF lenses (we asumme all of them are already released, and no new ones will show up) already have their capabilities listed on RF bodies - whatever the underlying reason for those limits be. Those capabilities are by lens, and not universal across the mount. I'm not sure why you are alluding those capabilities will become worse over time. Is there something you know that I don't?
