true but its not that much of an issue, for GMail just use a different email client with your GMail account info, for maps, Huawei Petal Maps is very good, instead of Chrome I use Bromite which is chromium based and is essentially Chrome with all the tracking and ad stuff stripped out (interface and functionality is 99% the same as chrome), I'm facing no issues and my battery life is 30% better without GMS and Play services sucking resources and battery in the background all the time.
