Re: Zfc Lens Approach

To be honest, the DX lenses don't necessarily have to come from Nikon. If third parties are interested (and with enough DX bodies on the market they will), Nikon should just open up the Z mount and let others provide the APS-C lenses they are unwilling to make.
Sigma has 16, 30 and 56 mm f1.4 primes, and they excellent as far as I could see. Tamron has a 17-70 mm f2.8 and a 11-20 f2.8 zoom. Again, excellent if we can trust the reviews out there.
So the lenses we need already exist for other APS-C formats (E mount etc.) and if Nikon is willing to share its protocols with third parties, all they have to do is lengthen the barrels of 1-2 mm or whatever the difference in flange distance is between Z and E mount.

Nikon will not open their Z lens protocols, because they arent smart. Sony did open their protocols, and look what happened, they are no. 1 in the mirrorless market (or soon will be), partly because of lens choice from so many different manufacturers. Nikon will never catch up.
