How would people react to Nikon releasing a couple of f2 zoom lenses in the 24-50 and 50-105 range? Would you be interested in such lenses?

Now that we have the Z mount, Nikon can be very creative and try something unconventional to match the demand on the modern pro.

I’d certainly be interested. Thoughts?

Canon has a 28-70mm/f2 zoom in the RF mount. The price aside, the catch is that it weights 3 pounds. I understand it is optically excellent.

Personally, I would much rather have an excellent 24-70mm/f2.8, which pretty much all major brands have. I would use such lens for indoor events, parties, weddings, etc. When I take group shots, I would stop down to f5.6 or so to gain sufficient depth of field. And to me, it is a lot more important to cover 24mm without changing lenses than having f2. In these days high ISO results are much better than before, and I sure don't want to hand hold a 3-pound lens in additional to a pro body all day long. The 24-70mm/f2.8 is heavy enough, especially the F-mount AF-S VR version that I also have.
