Having just purchased a D500 and the 200-500mm lens for wildlife I'm after another lens for general photography. Not wanting to spend a fortune after the outlay so far.

Been looking at the sigma 17-70 mm 2.8 and the Nikon 24-120 f4. Can anyone offer any recommendations for these two or any other suggestions.

Thanks Andy

The 16-80 if you can get one at a price that suits you ( unlikely )

For a standard kit zoom so obviously not bright the af-p 18-55 is very hard to beat

For a cheap bright and lightweight short zoom with excellent optics and fast but slightly noisy af, the tamron 17-50/2.8 A16Nii ( not the crop version ) at under 100 quid. This also goes to 1:4.5. Possibly one of the most underrated dx lenses ever.

OK, just curious. You say "not the crop version". But then you add "possibly one of the most underrated DX lenses ever".  How can it be "not crop" and DX at the same time?
