From the discussion, it seems your work would be a lot simpler if you moved to a Surface or other Windows tablet.
How so? Generally not impressed with windows 10+
I’ve actually switched to iPad and currently have over 1800 images from various sources and anything that doesn’t fit in devices memory is stored on cloud and very simply downloaded from the cloud to view / share etc
I am too sloppy with the cloud. Google photos got me with the free photos thing and then shut it off - if they put it to race mode I had to race to download my photos before they erased them but for now they are in the legacy stage.
Anyway the race to reclaim you photos when the service is bought out/discontinued /terms change is a game I no longer have the time for. Its ok for I am not sure if i want to keep photos sure in the temporary but its just a legal ransom ware waiting to happen for the paid services - how many doubling of price would you willing to save your photos?
The Ipad I look into it, thought ethically apple products are the worst so I try to avoid them and there suicide nets as much as possible - not to say that most electronics don't have slave labor and worse in the supply chain somewhere it a matter of degree.
Even if you are not impressed with windows 10, A surface go 2 would be boondockers for what you are trying to do. And yes. Do not get an apple. Speaking from personal experience.
Well I will consider my options . Sounds like the app option in the short version is possible but no one knows for sure so its going to be trail and error. I have noticed it seems to be SD card related it the card is 32 gigs or smaller it seems to work better but the photos are also a bit less so it might the a photo threshold issue..
