I don't think a 1"-sensor makes sense. The TG series is small, compact, flexible, rugged, and perfect for a user community that would go on a photo safari armed with a smartphone rather than a real camera.

Before buying the TG-6 I was actually pleased to note that it is using a smaller sensor. A 1"-sensor would cause it to be a different camera, the overall dimensions and weight would go up, as it would the price.

Much as I hate using the TG-6 in bright light (can't see anything on the screen), I do think it's a fine camera that has a lot to offer to young folks using it underwater, on hikes, on the beach, or rafting as shown in this thread.
