Tribute to a Classic, (EF 100-400mm)
3

I thought it might be time to pay a tribute to an old Canon lens that has been around for a very long time now. It has been extremely successful and popular in both versions. The EF100-400 IS USM Classic, that was released in 1998, filling the needs of many. It also set the stage for the successful improved version ii. I believe this classic version has had a sweet and sour history, but for me it has been all good.

Anyone that wishes to post shots, opinions, or stories about this old classic lens on this thread will certainly be welcomed and appreciated.

I will start out with a few shots I took all from just this last couple of weeks. I am hoping to show this old glass can still be used yet today, amongst a sea of mirrorless and modern tech lenses. It might not be as sharp or as fast as the younger glass, but it still can catch some action. Technology moving on and improving is a good thing. I tried to shoot a few challenging backgrounds and a few faster birds when the opportunity arose to show this lens can still hold its own today. The only post editing to these has been global to the whole image with no selective editing or layers being used.

Thanks for reading.

I bet the the adult duck walking above on the right is the father. His head is down and the female is giving him a stern look. (-:

This bugger was fast. Hard to catch.
