Interlaced video saved as progressive scan, how to convert to interlaced?

The question is basically in the title. I have some interlaced videos which were naively saved as progressive scan by combining odd and even fields and they exhibit strong combing.

I wanted to try to reverse the process and make an interlaced version out of this progressive scan video and to try to deinterlace it using more advanced algorithms.

I have been unsuccessful in finding a solution. The only discussions I found in google concerned converting true progressive scan video to interlaced for broadcasting.
