What does a 0.0 EV exposure look like? See a sample, and a (I think) somewhat under-exposed exposure of the same hydrangea. The colors are close to right, but somewhat over-saturated. YMMV
If you can't return the batteries and are willing to give them away for free, I could put them to good use!
Keep in mind, all of this very much experimentation with how the camera does or doesn't meet Chris' needs.

Several thoughts on your pictures.
- They're at max zoom
- Generally speaking this isn't ideal for the TG-6
- Zoomed out, the TG optics are sharp, but they are a bit soft when zoomed in (the exception being macro where they shuffle the lens and max zoom then IS very sharp)
- The Nikon series had the same issue...max zoom meant fuzzy images. Sadly this is a challenge with folded optics...Olympus chose to optimize for the zoomed out range instead of the zoomed in.
- Generally speaking flowers look better the closer you get for photography
- The scene is very challenging
- I've taken a lot of flower shots...and they typically reflect more light then you realize. A common mistake when shooting flowers is to not under-expose...this is true for almost all cameras.
- The dynamic range in that scene is surprisingly harsh. Those are fairly dark shadows behind the flowers...yet some of the grass and especially the side walk is reflecting a lot of light.
- The first image has 800 iso
- For compacts this is high
- You have "NoiseFilter" set to "Standard" whereas I prefer "Low".
- "Standard" blurs images too much...sometimes you can get away with this if you shooting something smooth (like a sky), but not plants.
- I posted detailed comparisons of the three noise reduction settings here if you're curious: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4413720
- Your aperture is wide open on both shots...so my hypothesis about the built in "nd filter" being switched on was wrong.
- You have "i-enhance - Standard" on for both images.
- That's results in too much saturation/contract
- Images that are under-exposed are especially prone to "over-baking" with "i-enhance - Standard"
- I almost always use "I-enhance - Low" which IMO provide significantly cleaner and better results. It also makes it easier to under-expose.
- You have face detect on
- This is likely minor
- I suspect it might help a small bit to turn it off though
- You have "Keep Warm Colors On"
- I hate this setting
- It is on by default and makes parts of the image more red/warmer
- When shooting outdoors (like grass/trees) it is IMO very important to have this off
- It can sometimes look ok when shooting man-made objects (like cars, buildings, etc...)
Again, the TG-6 can shoot nice flowers. Here are some samples:
