Hi, this is for the (foreseeable) moment an hypothetical Q of curiosity for me,

I have been reading about the Tamron and Sigma 150-600mm offerings - Tamron G2 & G1 and the Sigma S and C lenses. All seem to get good marks for performance.

None of these is small or light: about 2kg for the Tamron G1, G2 and Sigma C and 2,8kg for the Sigma S.

Do users of these lenses shoot hand held with them or primarily use with tripod or monopod? How do the respective stabilisation mechanisms perform / hold up in the hand held use?

Do you carry them/it appreciable distances when you are using it? eg hiking, bird/nature walk type scenarios,

grateful for insights.

I had the Sigma 150-600mm S (now sold) but I had no issue hand holding. Ok, you wouldnt want to do it all day every day, as it does have helf to it, Esp when extended out to 500-600mm which is where I mostly used it.

I have the Nikon 300mm 2.8 VR and these are much the same weight and the 300mm doesnt extend, but i still foound handling the 150-600 easier....

Also it comes down to the person/strength
