It’s by far Sony’s most versatile lens, and a fantastic lens combining range with iq. If you include third party lens in the mix I’d have to go with tamron 28-200. Sure you give up 4 mm at the wide end but almost double the range. It’s also significantly lighter making it suitable for a carry around lens. While it won’t replace a true macro, You can literally stick the lens on top of a subject and gain focus. The f2.8 at the wide end comes in handy for low light and 5.6 fully extended is not bad either. IQ is at least as good as the Sony across the range. At 2/3 the price of the 24-105 it makes a compelling choice for an all-in-one lens
