Re: The R3 will be announced June 29th

In my opinion, the use of physical dials, knobs, buttons and switches, until they become too small or close together or undifferentiated, in the given space, and if they "feel"  easily identified by shape and texture, have the proper resistance to movement and "lockability" to preclude accidental movement, are always going to be superior to near total control by LCD menu selection. This was something that old but fine film cameras had which are superior to most of todays camera controls. Of course, when the number of controls available, with vast auto focusing capabilities, auto exposure settings, and the hundreds of other possible controls relevant to complex digital still/video hybrid cameras became desirable, there was no real choice than to go to LCD menus and submenus and sub-sub menus. But, then camera makers let the pendulum swing too far away from knobs and dials. We are probably heading back to more of the old style interfaces in todays best cameras, but, of course, will still need menus for most of our controls due to volume and complexity. The extra dial on RF lenses is a good step in that direction.
